Head Chair Introduction: Madelyn Diaz

 Hello and welcome delegates!

My name is Madelyn Diaz and I will be your Head Chair for this year's United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization at BMUN LXXI! I'm so excited to embark on this educational journey with you all and discuss topics I've become very interested in! Please stay tuned for vice chair introductions later in the coming weeks.

For now, here's a little bit about me: I'm a second-year majoring in Legal Studies and minoring in Public Policy. Other activities I'm involved in include being part of a Latina-based sorority at UC Berkeley and working this past summer for the US House of Representatives! Although this is my first time being a BMUN Head Chair, I'm very proud to have maintained a personal connection to BMUN through being a vice chair for OAS last year and once being a BMUN delegate myself a few years ago!

As a policy wonk myself, I'm excited to bring a new and emerging policy area to the table for this year's Topic A on cultural policy. As for Topic B, I look forward to hearing about your methods of international problem-solving skills. My hope for this year's conference is to encourage you all to challenge the narrative and allow you to think of critical world issues with a creative and academic approach.

I'm very excited to see you all bring your ideas and stances to the table at the conference this year. With that said, if you have any questions or concerns leading up to the coming weeks, please contact unescobmunlxxi@bmun.org

Sincerely,

Madelyn

This was my favorite visit to the Mexican Cultural Institute of Washington D.C. this past summer. I'm a proud daughter of Mexican-Peruvian immigrants.

My favorite selfie taken during Cal's Llamapalooza --my favorite day of the year!
